Augusta Technical College Claims Top Honors at 2026 TCSG Leadership Summit

Christopher Davis Named 2026 TCSG Rick Perkins Award Winner; Brentson Judon Named First Runner-Up in GOAL competition.

Augusta, GA - April 24, 2026

Augusta Technical College brought home statewide recognition at the 2026 Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) Leadership Summit in Atlanta, with Christopher Davis named the 2026 TCSG Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction winner and Brentson Judon earning the title of 2026 TCSG Georgia Occupational Award of Leadership (GOAL) First Runner-Up.

Christopher Davis, an Automotive Technology instructor and department chair, at Augusta Technical College, was selected as the statewide winner of the Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction. Now in its 35th year, the Rick Perkins Award is the highest honor a technical college instructor can receive in the state of Georgia, recognizing innovation in the classroom, a deep commitment to student success, and excellence in technical instruction.

As the 2026 state winner, Davis received a crystal award and a $2,500 prize and will serve as a representative for technical education in Georgia throughout the coming year, including appearances before the Governor and the Georgia General Assembly.

Brentson Judon, a Design and Media Production Technology student at Augusta Technical College, was recognized as the 2026 TCSG GOAL First Runner-Up. Now in its 54th year, the GOAL program honors the most outstanding technical education students across TCSG's 22 colleges. Competing as a state finalist and earning first runner-up honors among students from across Georgia is a remarkable distinction and a testament to Judon's academic excellence and commitment to his field.

“This is a proud moment for Augusta Technical College. To have both a GOAL runner-up and the statewide Rick Perkins Award winner reflects the strength of our students and faculty. Christopher Davis and Brentson Judon exemplify the excellence, innovation, and workforce focus that define technical education in Georgia," stated Dr. Kendricks D. Hooker, President, Augusta Technical College.

Both awards begin with college-level nominations, followed by regional competitions that narrow the field to statewide finalists. Finalists are evaluated on leadership, academic and instructional excellence, and their ability to represent the mission of technical education in Georgia. Augusta Technical College congratulates Christopher Davis and Brentson Judon on their outstanding achievements and thanks them for representing the college with distinction.
